Research

Prof. Paola Fioretto spent 4 years as Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she became an expert in renal structure in diabetes. In USA and in Italy she has studied renal structure in both type1 and type 2 diabetes.
Among her contributions, the description of heterogeneity in renal structural changes underlying renal dysfunction in type 2 diabetes, and the demonstration that the lesions of diabetic nephropathy can reverse in humans.
