Short narrative biography


Professor Alexander Tenenbaum became a cardiologist at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel.
Currently, he is the Scientific Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Institute, Sheba Medical Center, affiliated with Tel Aviv University.

His research interests and areas of expertise include hypertension, clinical cardiology, echocardiography, heart failure, cardiovascular drug therapy and computed tomography.
During recent years he has become especially involved in the research of various aspects of dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, obesity and the diabetes/cardiovascular interrelationship. Prof. Tenenbaum is the author of hundreds of scientific publications.
As a result of the efforts of many scientists, a new and specific branch of medicine – Cardiovascular Diabetology – was set up recently.

Prof. Tenenbaum is co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Diabetology (BioMed Central, Springer Nature, London, UK), the leading journal in the field. Prof. Tenenbaum is also the co-founder and Past Chairman of The Israeli Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (IHS).
